Jim left to go visit Mom around noon. Mom’s been really looking forward to an overnight stay with her 2 daughters at Kathy’s place for the past week now. The agreement was that while Greg was out camping with his brother, Mom & Penny would have a sleep over with Kathy at their place. So Penny was to pickup Mom on Sunday and they would return on Tuesday.
When Jim arrived today, he found Mom smiling from ear to ear with bags packed and saying “Penny should be here at any time to pick me up!”. Jim had to break the news to her that 'today was Saturday, not Sunday. Penny wouldn’t be picking her up until tomorrow.’ Jim said he could just see the joy & excitement drain from her face as she asked “You’re kidding me, right?”.
Once Mom realized it was Saturday, she also realized she'd need her pillbox. Jim helped her look for it in her luggage. She knew she'd packed them in her luggage, but they had to completely unpack everything looking for them because she’d placed her pill box below the rigid bottom board of her soft-sided luggage, and had forgotten specifically where they were.
While repacking, Jim asked her if she’d packed her cellphone charger. Apparently, she hadn’t because when Jim went to get it, he was confused because the USB charger (transformer) was plugged into the wall and the cord coming from it was going to her external keyboard usually connected to her Chromebook. Apparently, the USB cable had been unplugged and was sitting on the table with the random other items she had there. The keyboard has no capability to recharge batteries or anything of that kind, and should not be plugged into a USB recharger. Jim apparently assumed that I had changed something at the kitchen table with her chromebook or phone, and so texted me asking what happened to her phone charger. Eventually, he figured it out. But for some reason was still thinking I’d plugged the keyboard into the USB charger when he came home. But, obviously, Mom had a brain fart sometime in the last day or 2 when she found unplugged cables on the kitchen table. There were three: 1) the Chromebook charging cable, 2) the external keyboard, 3) the cellphone charging cable. It makes no sense to plug the external keyboard into the USB charger used by her cellphone, but we’ve been talking about how Mom’s reasoning abilities are starting to slip!
