Today was Mom's 87th birthday!
We picked Mom up at her place and arrived around 2:30. Dinner was at 4:00, so we had plenty of time. She was excited to go, and asked us for our opinion and help picking out jewelry to wear with her outfit. (Jim's a big help in that dept. Me? -not so much).
In the excitement of getting to the restaurant, we overlooked the marque on the sign out front. Apparently, Evelyn & Charlie had arranged for a personalized birthday message for Mom. How cool! After we finished dinner, we grabbed a picture of it with Mom, Charlie, Penny & Jim in front. (Unfortunately, Greg & Katie had just left, a few minutes earlier). For more pictures of the event, see Penny's Facebook photos page.
Everyone seemed to have a good time. Mom ordered a Long Island Iced Tea which she enjoyed. Unfortunately, as we've found at our place when we have her over for holidays, she doesn't seem to be content with having only 1 drink. Frankly, she doesn't seem to know when to stop. Today, however, Charlie and Evelyn were buying for her, so she asked for another drink, but C&E appeared to not take notice of her request as they were sitting a little further down the table. Thankfully, although her drink was strong, with having had only one, she was able to be escorted fairly easily by Jim and I out of the restaurant. She did complain that her legs were stiff from having sat so long, but she managed it.
